Residents of Turkey and Syria are stunned and struggling as a result of Monday's 6.3 magnitude earthquake,

Which shook the same area devastated by earthquakes two weeks ago that killed nearly 45,000 people and destroyed thousands of buildings.

According to Turkey's disaster management agency, six people were killed and approximately 300 were injured, with 18 critically injured.

Pro-government media outlets reported that a woman and a girl died in Syria's Hama and Tartus provinces, and that people jumped from buildings to escape.

The quake on Monday damaged buildings that had survived previous quakes, displacing a new wave of people into the cold streets of Aleppo and Latakia.

"However, the most significant damage it and all the other aftershocks are currently causing is not visible," Jani Savolainen,

A Damascus-based spokesperson for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, told USA TODAY.

"The earthquake brought back memories of the war, as well as new traumas of losing family members, homes, and belongings due to the earthquake."
