Tom Brady

Tom Brady’s Hall of Fame career has come to an end — this time for good.

After a strange retirement cycle last year that didn’t seem appropriate for a player like Brady, he has taken matters into his own hands this offseason. With speculation rife about a possible return for one more season, Brady set the record straight by posting a simple message on his social media accounts announcing his retirement for good.

Brady was stoic rather than dragging out the announcement or making it a huge ordeal. He admitted that last year’s retirement saga was a shambles and that he wanted to avoid another circus.

“I’ll get right to the point: I’m leaving.”For good,” Brady declared. “I know the procedure was a big deal the last time, so I figured I’d just press history and let you guys know first.”

The obvious next question is: Is Tom Brady truly retiring from football?

We did this dance and song last year when Brady announced his retirement, but he changed his mind a month later when he revealed he would return for one more season. At the time, it was did believe that Brady was motivated to return so that he could quit the way he wanted to, rather than being beaten to the punch by Adam Schefter — which was the catalyst for the entire circus.

Brady’s retirement was announced by Schefter before the man himself, which not only appeared to motivate Brady to return but also tainted the entire event.

Mike Florio of PFT noted in the days immediately prior to Brady’s unretirement that it was from the Buccaneers, not the NFL. This followed reports that Brady wanted to join forces with Sean Payton in Miami and complete his career with the Dolphins.

That did not happen, and while his season finale with the Buccaneers did not go as planned, Brady’s retirement appears to be official this time.
